Bedbugs are creepy and can cause many people to lose sleep. No wonder they have been in the news so much lately. Not only are they invading houses and hotels, but hanging out suitcases, furniture, and other comfortable areas, but they’ve started catching rides on airplanes, moving to movie theaters, hospitals, and schools.
There are many ways to bring bed bugs into your home or business, but traveling and used furniture seems to be the most common ways of introduction.
If you think you may have been exposed to bedbugs while traveling, clean out everything you have taken with you. Vacuuming your suitcase and washing all clothes in hot water, even if they are clean, should kill any bed bugs. It is also a good idea to leave your suitcase away from the bed or bathroom, and on a hard surface if possible to prevent bed bugs.
Most of the time, bed bugs will be within a few feet of where you are sleeping. On the mattress, you may find blood spots, fecal matter, or eggs. Lifting up seams, in a lightly infested area, you may see these signs. Usually, when you find one bedbug, there are many others close by.
